Every flag tells a story

Whether you spotted an unfamiliar flag on a building, want to know why two countries use almost the same stripes, or need the exact proportions and colors of a state flag, you're in the right place.

What you'll find here

Every flag gets its own page. We cover when it was adopted, who designed it, what each color and symbol stands for according to official legislation or historical records, and where popular stories about a flag don't match the history.

You'll also find the construction details—aspect ratio, color specifications, and layout—alongside earlier flags flown in the same place and flags around the world that share similar patterns or colors.

We're just getting started

The first flag pages are on their way. Is there a flag you'd like to see, or did we get something wrong? Let us know.
